I had a dinner date last year. I met this guy on my way out of the bar. He stopped me to chit chat, he was cute but I was leaving and didn’t have time to chat. I just gave him my number to cut the conversation short. Besides, I figured it would make him want to call me more. I pleasantly surprised by his call the next day since he didn’t wait 3 days like every other guy I’ve me and asked me out for the following day.

We met a local diner near my house and we both ordered a diet coke since we were driving. The conversation went well, we laughed and smiled and I noticed he was drinking his diet coke pretty fast. I didn’t think anything of it since it wasn’t alcohol but then when he got to the bottom he continued to sip on the straw where there was nothing left but an empty glass with ice in it. I looked at him funny; thinking why isn’t he ordering a free refill?? When I asked him if he wants another he said no and that he’s good. Then he started to chew on the ice. What was wrong with him? I tried to ask him again if he wants a refill and even assured him that it’s FREE. Instead he asked if I was going to finish mine. I gladly said no and watched him finish my coke. What was that all about????   Anyway, the funny party is that I ran into him the other day and he asked me oout again. Is he serious???

I had high hopes when “Dan,” an attractive and smart schoolteacher, and graduate of a highly-rated liberal arts college, invited me on a date. When the bill arrived after dinner, I reached for my purse, fully expecting him to say, “Please, I invited you. Let me pay.” When he didn’t, I set down a twenty. He followed suit and set down a twenty as well. We waited several minutes for the waitress to pick up our check. Finally, concerned we might miss our movie, “Dan” suggested we leave exact change so we wouldn’t have to wait any longer. He took away his twenty and replaced it with a five. He inspected the bill again and realized that on a $22 tab, $25 would not be enough with a tip. He then asked ME if I had a few singles. Caught off guard, I obliged and set down three dollars. “Oh, good. Now we can go,” he declared. “Oh, good,” I thought to myself, “I’ve just paid $23 on a $27 bill for a date I was invited on!” Oblivious, “Dan” didn’t make it up to me by paying for my movie ticket.

I once dated a guy “off and on” for three years.  He was so cheap that once he waded into the fountain at a mall (an INDOOR mall) to get change for the dollar-movie theater!  He told me “hey, cover me (tell me if mall security sees me)”.  My reply was “HELL NO!” and I walked away. Is he serious?

I went on a 2nd date this past weekend. It was a fairly nice restaurant called “Macaroni Grill”. I have never been there before. Didn’t look too expensive and I didn’t make the decision to come here. I met him online a few weeks back. The first date was really nice, we met at a bar for a drink and it turned into a dinner. He called the next day and invited me out again.

During dinner he made a few comments about work and money. I thought it was strange conversation to be having with someone you’re getting to know. I enjoyed myself to say the least and would like to see him again. However when he received the check after the dinner, he looked at it and said, “Wow you’re expensive”. Is he serious? This restaurant is a chain. Besides, it wasn’t my decision. I didn’t go out with him again, I was afraid he may claim bankruptcy if I suggest Cheesecake Factory.  Perhaps next time he should just stay home..

Valentine’s Day! What does this day really mean? If you’re a couple, then V-day should be every day, wouldn’t you agree? And if you’re single, then this is the day when all the singles get together at a bar and try to connect with someone, in hope of celebrating this day together next year.My single girlfriends and I decided to go to a Cupid party in hope of making a “connection.” This bar had a singles party where the girls received a plastic heart to wear around their necks and the guys received keys. The goal was for the guys to use their key to unlock a girl’s matching heart. Of course, the girls get to approach the guys, too, to find that key. I thought there was a slight possibility for me to meet a guy here. Especially when he may even have the key to my heart! I wore dark jeans and a yellow top. The yellow was to stand out among all the other girls that would be wearing red. Plus, it was an additional conversation piece. Besides, it’s my lucky color.
